Patients who have been enrolled in Medicare Part B for over 12 months are eligible for complimentary wellness checks. During your initial visit to AZZ Medical Associates, you will be introduced to Medicare. The process begins with a health risk assessment questionnaire, where you provide information about your personal and family health histories.
Your doctor will also record details about your medications and measure your height, weight, and blood pressure. Additionally, they will check your heart rate, assess your breathing, observe your mobility, and evaluate your mental health.
As part of the visit, your doctor may administer immunization boosters and schedule preventive health screenings for conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
Following the initial examination, your AZZ Medical Associates doctor will create a personalized wellness program tailored to your needs. After the welcome visit, you will return to AZZ Medical Associates annually for follow-up visits as part of your ongoing Medicare wellness care.
During your annual Medicare wellness visits, your doctor will review the healthcare plan you completed previously and make any necessary adjustments based on changes in your health. They will also check your blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate.
It’s important to note that Medicare annual wellness visits are primarily focused on prevention and education, rather than diagnosis and treatment. They aim to promote better health in later stages of life, but they do not involve extensive testing typically conducted during an annual or Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
Lab tests and diagnostic imaging procedures are not included as part of Medicare wellness visits. If your doctor believes that a more comprehensive examination or diagnostic tests would be beneficial, they will provide recommendations during your annual wellness visit.
